Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Adviser within the accounts department.
Day to day, I prepare year end accounts, management accounts & other misc. tasks. I interact with other team members - other advisers, as well as managers, directors & partners, as well as members of other teams - the tax team, audit team & payroll team most regularely. Externally, I interact with clients, via email or over the phone. This is to send over requests for information mainly, as well as occasionally answering any questions clients have. My main responsibilities are to complete my work on time & to the best of my ability, be organised individually & update other team members on work when necessary, be up to date with any training etc. and keep on top of my studies. My main project currently is completing AAT Level 4.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
My program is fairly enjoyable - I get on well with most people, my work varies day to day & I interact with different people regularly. Switching between college & work regularly allows me to have a change of environment often & I enjoy my studies generally.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have learnt organisation skills - keeping calendars, emails, timesheets, update forms etc. all up to date. I've also learnt technical skills - effectively using various software's & applying my knowledge to different businesses. I've also learnt communication skills - communicating effectively both formally & informally.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
My program is very structured. I have quarterly catch-ups/ reviews with my skills coach, assessing how my studies & development is going & any areas for improvement. I regularly log my learning & development, my courses are well outlined & organised in advance, and my work life is also very organised.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I receive lots of support from my employer - training & development is offered & encouraged regularly & in various ways, through technical & soft skills training sessions, team meetings, online learning, external training providers etc. I also have the opportunity for secondments - broadening my skillset through spending time working within different teams in the firm.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
I receive lots of support from my training provider. Course material & additional physical revision material is provided upon starting each course, quarterly catch-up/ review sessions are held with my skills coach to assess my development, lots of additional revision material is made available online - mock exams, videos, notes & small tests etc. Tutors are also always available to offer additional support if needed.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
My qualification definitely helps me to perform better in my role. Most courses are applicable directly to my work in one way or another, whether directly impacting my day to day work & technical skills, or widening my knowledge overall which helps in other tasks I complete in work.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes. We take part in regular networking events made available to everyone in the team. Team sports activities - running, football etc. are done often, such as a monthly 5 a side game, or taking part in charity football events, running for charities etc. Our team offer a paid social event every quarter to everyone in the team to go out & socialise & get to know everyone in the team better.
