Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My current role in the company as an apprentice waiting to carry out my final exam before being a fully qualified electrician is to carry out independent works on commercial properties, whether it be installing new lighting systems or testing existing installations. My tasks vary a lot from week-to-week. I find the work rewarding and I like the fact I’m challenged with different problems to solve daily.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

During my time working for AB I have learnt and developed countless skills, from simply becoming comfortable using a vast array of tools and equipment necessary to carry out electrical works, to becoming confident in liaising with clients and colleagues in a professional manner.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

My programme has been extremely well organised in my opinion as I’ve always felt I knew exactly what was expected of me throughout my apprenticeship, and was aware of what challenges and tests I had coming up that I would have to deal with in order to succeed and progress.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive a lot of support from my employer and managers in the company, if I’m ever uncomfortable with a job I have been tasked with and feel I don’t have the necessary skills to complete the job safely, I always feel comfortable asking for help and support from my manager.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I receive a lot of help from my college assessor, especially through the process of completing my portfolio, as it’s quite a confusing and long winded task. My assessor broke the process down and made it as simple as possible to carry out.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

Why?
I would definitely recommend my company to a friend, as I feel it’s the perfect place to learn and nurture a new skill or profession; this is due to the fact as an apprentice there is always plenty of support where required, as well as the opportunity to work independently and really build confidence in your own work.
