Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
As an apprentice, i take on a variation of engineering-based roles, and the goal is to get an understanding of my function and all the factors that go into it.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
2/5
I love my function (work), I haven't enjoyed the education side of things, and the overall environment of Furness College.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Yes, i have learnt a variety of engineering and project based skills, which I am able to use and adapt within different roles during placement rotations.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
My programme is very well structured, from a placements/work perspective, BAE have sufficiently planned and carried out plans for us and know how to collect the accurate competencies for apprentices. Furness College however was extremely poorly organised, leading to work being lost, extra sessions needed etc.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
My employer is actively involved and works directly with apprentices to support us and is continuously looking for ways to improve the apprentice scheme.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
1/5
Minimal.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
2/5
Some parts are applicable, not all.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Yes, I have enrolled as a STEM ambassador and also take part in many stretch/enrichment opportunities.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It is a company with good prospects for the future and a good support system for apprentices, aside from Furness College, the apprenticeship is amazing!
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
Engage with enrichment, stem and stretch.
