To work within a team that aims to align the strategic direction of the function to customer needs, organisation needs, and all other key stakeholder's requirements.
In my role l support the delivery of an exhibition event, which aims to engage the workforce with Technology. In addition, I support business capability mapping to ensure alignment between stakeholder needs and the organisations capabilities. I also work on strategic communications and engagement, to ensure the strategic view is communicated to the wider organisation to ensure stakeholders are informed, engaged and aligned with the intent of the functions direction.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

In my programme I am continuously learning and developing my skills to support my team to deliver objectives. In my daily interactions i am able to ask questions and learn from others the roles and responsibilities of the different functions.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have developed existing skills of using excel to create graphs, pivot tables and using formulas to calculate data. I have learnt new skills of project management that include scheduling, scheduling, change control and risk management.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

The university course is relevant to my placement and i can put what i have learnt in lectures into practice. The structure of my placement is good because I stay in one function for 12 months which gives time to progress and learn new skills.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive lots of support from my line manager on how to approach my daily tasks with regular check ins to provide opportunity to discuss my progress and if i need any help. I also have support from a skills coach who checks my progress throughout the programme.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

My training provide provides opportunity to ask for help over email / online Q&A on the module page for support on assignments.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I believe the qualification helps me learn the theory and the knowledge needed to perform in my role and i often see the link between the knowledge gained and the skills developed in my placement.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are lots of extra-curricular activities to get involved with to develop my knowledge, skills and behaviours that are relevant to my role. Less so for social activities and sports teams,

Why?
This apprenticeship provides the knowledge, skills and behaviours to help be successful in my role and progress throughout the programme. There are plenty of opportunities to learn over and above the placement tasks which provides a varied experience.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
To think about how you want to develop both professionally and personally. Also the interview was a good experience as the interviewers will give prompts to expand on your answers.
