Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
Another key part of my role is calculating and issuing both estimated and actual service charges, ground rent, and shared ownership rent. This includes major works charges, which can often lead to more complex queries or disputes. I regularly work through financial disputes and provide guidance on service charges or leasehold matters, aiming to resolve any issues as smoothly as possible.
I also focus on income collection—maximising the recovery of service charges, rent, and major works payments—while supporting customers by offering debt advice and helping them understand what welfare benefits they might be entitled to.
On the more technical side, I authorise final accounts using our housing system (Northgate), and make sure that the data and billing are accurate and aligned with lease terms and legislation. Every day brings a different challenge, but it’s a rewarding role that balances financial, legal, and customer service responsibilities.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
What I really appreciate is how the programme supports both my professional and personal development. I’m constantly learning something new, and I feel a real sense of achievement as I progress. It’s also been great to see how the work I do directly benefits residents, which makes the learning feel even more meaningful.
The balance between on-the-job experience and structured learning works really well for me, and I’ve had a lot of support from both my employer and training provider. It’s definitely given me a clearer career path, and I feel motivated and excited about continuing in the housing sector in the long term.

Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?
I also appreciate how the programme blends practical, on-the-job experience with more formal learning. The topics we cover in the apprenticeship often tie in directly with tasks I’m working on at my job, which makes the learning feel relevant and useful. Regular check-ins and support from my assessor have also made a big difference—they’re always available to give feedback and guidance when I need it.
There’s a good balance between independence and support, and I feel like the structure of the programme has been designed to help me succeed without being overwhelming. It’s clear that both the training provider and my employer are invested in helping me get the most out of the experience
How much support do you receive from your employer?
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
My tutor has been really supportive—always available to answer questions, provide detailed feedback on assignments, and guide me through areas I find more challenging. The regular reviews and check-ins have kept me motivated and helped me stay on track with my learning. They’re also great at making sure the coursework links back to my day-to-day role, so everything I’m learning feels relevant and practical.
Overall, I feel that my training provider genuinely wants to see me succeed, and their support has been a big part of my development so far. I feel well prepared and confident about completing the qualification.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
Overall, the qualification has been a really useful foundation, and it’s definitely helped me grow into my role with more confidence and competence.
