Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
In my role, I support the HR team with a range of administrative tasks to help ensure smooth onboarding and record-keeping processes. On a daily basis, I scan hardcopy employee files and upload them to our e-filing system, making sure each file is accurately marked on the active employee report before the physical copies are securely shredded.
I also coordinate HR inductions for new starters, which involves sending out the HR induction rota to relevant trainers, booking meeting rooms, and communicating the details to line managers and recruiters to ensure a smooth and timely induction process.
Currently, I’m working on developing a comprehensive FAQ guide for new starters, covering general onboarding queries and information about employee benefits. Alongside my daily responsibilities, I also dedicate one day a week to my Business Administration apprenticeship to support my professional development.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I think the apprenticeship works well for independent learners. Aside from the lessons every two weeks and submitting projects every four weeks, there aren’t really any other check-ins. It would be helpful to have more 1-to-1s with my coach or tutors, just to feel a bit more supported and to make sure I’m on the right track.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
Yes, I’ve definitely developed some new skills since starting. One key area has been Excel – I had little to no experience with it before, so working with spreadsheets regularly has helped me build a basic understanding. I know there’s still room for improvement, but I’m getting more confident with it over time.
I’ve also developed a habit of daily logging/journaling my tasks, which has really helped me stay organised and reflect on what I’ve achieved each day. It’s made a difference in how I manage my time and track progress in my role.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The programme is definitely structured – we’re given a timetable before starting that outlines all the topics we’ll cover every two weeks. So in that sense, there’s a clear plan in place.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
At this point, I feel that support from my employer is something I’m still assessing as I continue through the programme. I’m always open to feedback and guidance and look forward to any opportunities for further support.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
The training provider is great and seems to genuinely take our interests seriously. They’re very supportive when it comes to the lessons and projects. However, there is a bit of a disconnect since the main touchpoints are only during the bi-weekly sessions or when projects are due. More frequent check-ins or communication would be helpful to maintain consistent support throughout the programme.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
I find it a bit difficult to connect some of the concepts I’ve learned in the qualification directly to my role. While the knowledge is helpful in some areas, especially around organisation and administration, there are parts of the training that feel less relevant to my day-to-day tasks. It would be beneficial to see more direct links between the course content and practical applications in my role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
Yes, there are a few extra-curricular activities at work. There’s a running group and a reading club, which are great for team bonding and personal interests. These activities offer a nice way to connect with colleagues outside of work tasks. Though I haven't taken part in any of these.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend CACI to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Yes, I would recommend CACI to a friend. It’s a wonderful company with a great culture, and they do some really impressive work. That said, I’m personally struggling to fully integrate into the role and company at the moment. Despite this, I can see the potential and positive aspects, and I believe it could be a good fit for someone who thrives in this environment.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to CACI?
My advice to anyone applying to CACI would be to network and take the time to learn about what others do within the company. While I haven’t had the chance to build close relationships yet, I’ve found that working in HR can sometimes make it more challenging to connect with colleagues. It's important to be open and honest, as transparency is one of CACI’s core values. Embrace that openness, and it’ll help you navigate the work culture.
