Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
2/5
Currently working within project control team, reviewing cost and maintaining project control procedures such as, baseline change requests, CPI and Schedules.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
2/5
It is challenging and sometimes I don't always feel supported. But the work and environment have taught me a lot and helped me to develop.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
Yes definitely! All skill pertaining to Project Control aspects especially for controlling cost have been developed. IT skills within excel have also been developed.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
2/5
The programme is well structured as a whole. However, the educations/college/Uni aspect needs reviewing as often they is no guidance, lectures are poor quality and workload is not measured against full time work.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
I receive support if I'm really struggling, however very little effective change occurs from provided feedback resulting in the same issues occurring repeatedly.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
1/5
Very little. Lectures are poorly structured/delivered, assignment feedback and guidance is limited, term dates do not align with work dates and little to no communication/planning between lecturers results in unachievable workloads, often not considering the full time nature of the apprenticeship.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
Often a lot of what we cover can be directly applied to placements, often providing a greater understanding of the Project Control environment.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Yes, they often provide events or experiences where you can network with other apprentices.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Overall, BAE is supportive and provides excellent first hand experience for learning and developing. However, I would ensure anyone I recommended was well aware of the difficulties experienced from the training provider.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
Really try to apply what you've learned in college to your role.
