Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My role as an apprentice technician involves 3D and 2D modelling using CAD software to deliver models and technical drawings to clients. This also involves a wide range of smaller tasks, such as BIM reviews and quality assurance checks
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy my programme greatly, as both the office side of the job and the college side are both very interesting, and i feel as though the knowledge will be very valuable for my career. I very much enjoy the company of the people i work with, also.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learned how to use many new types of software, particularly Computer aided design software such as microstation, bluebeam and revit. My communication skills have developed greatly along with my teamwork skills, and my confidence is at an all time high.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

Overall, it is organised well. There are a few issues on the college side with regards to moving locations, however overall it is clear what I need to do, when I need to do it and why I need to do it. Support is also excellent.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive as much support as I need for my role. On a day to day basis there will always be friendly colleagues around to ask any question to, who are always very happy to help. I am also given a mentor, who has been an incredible resource so far.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

Support is good, I always feel like I can ask questions and ask for any requirements when necessary. The college often encourages us to have an open mind regarding mental health, safeguarding etc, while also ensuring that we are receiving as much academic support as we need.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The course is highly applicable to the role itself, having learned about many engineering principles which I have applied to my own role. Even where information is not 100% applicable, its useful to know as its likely to come up in the future.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Arup offers a huge range of sports teams and social activities, with many chances to network in a more casual setting. This involves a Paddle team, football team, gym sessions, pub of the month and lunch and learn sessions.

Would you recommend Arup to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Arup is a great company with great pay and benefits, and an excellent apprenticeship programme with as much support as you need. The people are friendly and easy to get along with, and the work is very interesting. Generally speaking it is overall a very enjoyable job / programme.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Arup?
Be confident, and always ask a few questions at the end of the interview. More specific advice would be to do research into the "ova-code", and some research into construction case studies and how these are managed.
