Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Engineering technician working on a range of projects in different sectors from residential, to commercial, industrial, rail, highways and much more. Primarily working with Revit and collaborating with structural engineers, architects and other MEP engineers.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I enjoy it alot, sometimes the work life balance can be tricky with University, but Arup always support in that regard with extra study days where necessary. I also enjoy the range of projects I get to work on all over the world.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learnt lots of new software skills, primarily with Revit, Autocad and various clash detection software. I have also developed my presentation and team work skills, as well as my ability to problem solve.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
Very well structured, organised into modules on the University side that I attend once a week, and then project work for the remaining 4 days.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Lots of support, whether it be asking questions on projects, getting support for non work related matters, and support with the University workload.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
One day a week time off of work to complete my assignments and exams, as well as extra days off which are flexible when I need them. There are also lots of other apprentices who all support one another.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
Very well, as it gives an in detail breakdown of exactly how things work, and then during work hours we get to apply these concepts to projects.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are lots of socials, and I usually attend the climbing socials, pool socials and many more.
