Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I work with multiple people everyday to find aerospace solutions for various aircraft. This involves using JIRA/Confluence and other collaborative tools to work together. In addition, I utilise CAD to design aerospace solutions for certain tasks. Currently I'm on my first placement and eventually I will move onto a different department and gain new skills and knowledge.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
Extremely, I love learning new things from experienced members of the company and the atmosphere within the company is so welcoming. It's refreshing to learn new skills from my team members and the tasks I get pushes me to think creatively.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have developed my Excel skills since starting the job as well as learning how to use new tools like JIRA which a project management tool, essential to organising many tasks.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
Very organised, we have regular meetings with skills coaches tailored to us to ensure we are meeting criteria for apprentices and that we are on top of our work.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
A lot of support is provided by BAE, always welcoming with lots of helplines for technical tasks. Our skills coaches and placement managers as well anyone at work is always there to provide help and knowledge.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
The college provide lecturers with good content from the University of Lancaster but I feel like more communication is needed from them. The quality of lecturers is not the best sometimes.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
I believe it will help understand key engineering and aerospace principles. Especially the CAD aspect I believe will further my knowledge at work.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
There are early careers events that promote apprenticeships at local schools etc.
