Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Work within Change management team, my role includes creating/running meetings, ensuring documents are updated periodically, engaging with internal and external stakeholders, having ownership of work as well as supporting other team members with their work, providing updates to the team and keeping up with mandatory training.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy my current placement, i feel very supported and valued as a team. However, my enjoyment of the scheme has been dynamic. This is due to some placements not understanding the role i have been given and how to utilise me, or not allowing me to prioritise my university work when i am not classed as resource. I have also been penalised in my final EPA professional discussion for not having a procurement placement to gain procurement experience when as a project management apprentice we do not get to be in procurement placements as there are designated apprenticeships for this role.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Yes i have learnt how to use multiple software platforms as well as increase my skills on familiar software, stakeholder engagement skills and personal behaviour skills have also increased

How well organised/structured is your programme?

I believe the programme can be structured better to ensure all apprentices meet the criteria required in the professional discussion EPA interview, this can be done by allowing project management apprentices to be in procurement placements for short periods.

I believe the knowledge teachings provided have been to a good standard, however i don't believe all placements can provide the experience to perform the skills required to utilise the qualification
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Stretch assignments are provided in work, however during my EPA professional discussion these were not deemed complex enough to display leadership behaviours. Think there is some misunderstanding on what is deemed complex for our level of experience as we are not classed as resource in placements.

Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It is an excellent working environment, the placements and employees can be enjoyable. I just believe the structure of the apprenticeship system needs re-aligning to assure that apprentices have the opportunity to meet all competencies to the standard required, these standards need to be established and agreed.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
Ensure they choose a scheme or job role they enjoy and will feel fulfilment in and take every opportunity offered to gain experience and knowledge
