Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My role involves helping different teams with their IT needs, such as ITSM, Service desk help, and helping to bring in new apps and updates to the company through Service Design and Transition. This can involve setting up meetings, working and updating things in ServiceNow and gathering the needed data.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I would say that I enjoyed the programme. I feel that I was able to learn and develop some of my skills in IT to understand them more to use in the future. I also feel that the new things I learned about networks and security allowed me to learn new aspects of IT and how they are beneficial to our everyday lives.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learned different skills such as using a variety of apps like ServieNow, LeanIX, and troubleshooting skills to help with issues end users may have. This has allowed me to develop my understanding as to why we have these apps, and the benefits that they provide to the business. Through the learning aspect, I was able to develop my understanding on things like security, and being an IT professional.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

My company made sure to accommodate and give us all resources when needed. However, from a training provider perspective, I feel that they could be more organized and communicate things better so we are more aware of what is going on.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

I recived a lot of support from my employer. They made sure to give me all the needed resources and contacts when needed for projects, or learning our units. They made sure to prioritize my apprenticeship work and hours to allow me to achieve the best possible outcomes.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I would say that their support was good. They ensured that if I had questions or needed help that I could set up meetings, send them emails etc and they gave me the answers I needed, and the help such as support sessions and in our lessons.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I would say a lot. As it allowed me to get a good understanding into all of the different units we studied, that I can then use in my day to day, and help me depenidng on the team I go into. As now I feel more confident about those roles, and have a far better understanding to achieve the teams needs.

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes. TJX regularly host office events, networking opportunities and department based and company wide social events. Allowing us to enjoy work and be able to connect with others around the company. The networking events help to get to know other teams, and people in your department. Which is a great thing to do.

Why?

I feel it is a great place to work, and everyone that I have met has been friendly and supportive of each other. I also feel that the way in which the company looks after their employees makes it a great place to work, showing they care about their people which is great.
