Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I communicate directly with clients in light of their corporation tax return, challenging them on information provided or to get a more comprehensive view of their financials. I work closely with various members of the tax team and have interactions with other departments such as audit, BSG, and financial reporting. I also train and mentor younger, newer members of the team
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
The programme is enjoyable particularly if you have other people going through the same programme as you. This enables you to go through highs and lows as a team and look to each other for support.
The programme is more challenging than enjoyable, as have taken on more responsibility and this can become stressful at times.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have learnt a plethora of new skills and improved already existing skills. Communication is a key skill that has been developed throughout my apprenticeship; I can now talk to clients with confidence and lead a team at any given time. My time management skills have also improved in addition to being able to organise and manage other peoples work allocations.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
My programme was pretty well organised between Crowe and First Intuition. My first intuition mentor provided a clear plan from the beginning, when to expect college and exams, and other skills days. There could be more communication between FI and Crowe as it is up to the trainee to make managers aware of college dates, when this could be provisionally set for the full course and changed as and when.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
Managers were understanding to the pressures and stress of the programme and the ACA course as a whole. this is because many of them had gone through the same course. I was lucky to have had some time to complete apprenticeship reports and essays due to FI, but I know not everyone had been given this time and would have to complete these reports in their own time in addition to revision and overtime.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
First Intuition were really helpful throughout the course. All teachers were happy to help after college and would be keen to answer any questions. The teachers also gave useful revision tips, techniques and resources. There is also a safeguarding team at first intuition who would be happy to help with any issues outside of work and college .
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
The qualification helps me perform better as it has developed invaluable skills such as time management and resilience. There were also helpful sessions in the form of skills days that improved communication, business understanding, and teamwork. The ACA qualification is also required for my role, without it I would have no understanding of day to day work
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
My work does put on social events, including whole office events in Summer and Christmas. There are also other networking events to get involved in.
