I work in a really exciting HR role where I have the priviledge of breaking down barriers of employment and encouraging individuals with experience of the care system to work at the Partnership.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I'm not gonna lie, there are some subjects that have been more intersting to me than others and writing assignments after (many) years of leaving school, it's been tough sometimes. However, I love to learn and am gaining so much knowledge and insight about teams within my function.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

It is early days but has helped me uderstand and appreciate the skills I already have but also identify where I can make some improvements. My prioritisation and organisation skills are very useful while navigating the information I have available that I want to digest and utilise.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

The John Lewis Partnership encourages me to continually develop and offers a wide range of apprenticeships that thousands of Partners can access across many roles. My manager supports the work and has completed an apprenticeship here too so knows how it works and how best to help me.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

They are always an email or a call away. The webinars have been varied depending on the trainer that is assigned to the course but there is plenty of opporrtunity built in to ask questions and clarify requirements.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

So far I have a greater understanding of the strategic implications that my work feeds into. I collaborate with colleagues to unlock barriers across the function and can influence using data that I didn't know existed before the course.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes, there is a wide range of social activities. We have many clubs organised by employees that cover the whole of the UK. We also have our own Partnership Hotels - which includes a castle on Brownsea Island where you can stay or visit if you work for the organisation.
