Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
Basic QS skills such as tracking labour costs and checking invoices against our timesheets. Drafting requisitions for material and subcontract orders.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
2/5
I enjoy my programme, but at times I would like to have more to do and some days can be a bit slow.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Yes - I knew nothing about construction or quantity surveying when I started, so everything I've learned has been brand new, even basic excel skills.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
I think it is well structured and the process we go to from Level 4 to Level 6 has been clearly explained, as well as having plenty of connections to apprentices in other years for support.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
The support from my site team is brilliant, I think the support from the early careers team could be better.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
Whilst attending college, the lecturers are helpful and attentive.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
I think it helps by understanding the theory of the job before going into the practical side of it.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Yes, our site do 5 a-side football every Thursday at a local pitch, as well as plenty of social and networking events that people are encouraged to get involved in.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BAM to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It is a great company to work for with a giant support network and a large range of benefits that will assist you in working towards a professional qualification.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAM?
Be prepared to move away from home as some of the best projects won't be on your doorstep.
