Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Solicitor Apprentice in the Commercial team; support on drafting contracts, conducting due diligence, ad hoc tasks for the commercial team, business development and knowledge management initiatives.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have significantly improved my confidence in dealing with clients, both via email and Teams call. I have also improved my practical and technical abilities such as drafting, proof-reading / amending documents, and conducting reviews and due diligence on documentation and information.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
I feel the programme is well-structured, and that I have sufficient time to complete both my work and studies, with opportunities to go above and beyond for both.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive as much support as I need. I have regular catch-ups with my Supervisor and feel comfortable requesting help / a chat when needed. My team is also very supportive of both my studies and work.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I tend not to request any support. There is an option for exam leave and the team are very flexible and happy to help me out whenever possible, whether that is freeing up time, reducing workload, or otherwise.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
I feel as though the study element of the programme is more theoretical and so not particularly applicable to my everyday work, however the Contract Law module was relatively helpful in understanding the very basics of contractual principals and boilerplate.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes, all of the above - end of month drinks, summer / christmas social, ad hoc sports matches, opportunities to meet clients at events / dinners, opportunities to attend conferences, etc.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Pinsent Masons LLP to a friend?
Yes
Why?
The firm has been incredibly supportive and given me the opportunity to grow in my role, both in respect of my practical abilities and my confidence. There are so many opportunities to get involved in a variety of things, from social activities to professional events.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Pinsent Masons LLP?
Be yourself when applying; it is easy to feel as though you need to be a robot to tick all the boxes, but employers value authenticity too!
