Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
A variety of presentations and interactive sessions focused on improving your commercial awareness, both generally and specific to CMS. The week included partner dialogue, client dialogue and the chance to work in teams with participants and network with a variety of people from the firm.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
It was a great insight that would be difficult to find without participating on the scheme. We were given direct access to lawyers at the firm who discussed their career paths, and we could also communicate with support staff who gave insight into certain processes at the firm and advice regarding the internship and training contract.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
The week was a great chance to improve presentation skills and general confidence for client-facing dialogue and speaking to senior lawyers and large groups of people. It also encouraged quick decision-making and teamwork throughout the week.

How would you rate business leader involvement during the insight

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
It was clear that CMS is a very open, welcoming firm and really wants everyone to do well and to the best of their ability. There was nothing in place to catch us out and the positive environment really let everyone thrive. There was also a distinct lack of competitiveness from the participants which made the week even more enjoyable.

Be yourself, try not to present yourself as something you are not, encourage and support those around you and really get involved. You get out what you put in.
