Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I work with thin metal with the thickest being 5mm. We make things like venting, tables and cabinets out of aluminium or steels.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I enjoy it a lot, I work with amazing people and I think my line of work is very interesting. It has taught me a lot from the start but I wish that some programmes and courses we structured a bit better. We usually complete courses later than we should or they’re booked last minute.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Yes I have learnt many things about tools, machinery, processes and how to go from a piece of plate, to a design of given isometric drawing.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
Sometimes we are given courses to do last minute. We also sometimes have things cancelled and it’s a hassle to find out what is going on due to the large amount of structure within the business. Other than that, our learning is well structured and we are aware of what is expected of us over a long term goal.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive a lot of support from my employer, with lots of programmes available to those in need, whether that’s learning, financial or mental support
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
I feel like I get a lot of support, as I’m aware on what needs to be completed and I have been told on numerous occasions of what criteria is expected of me.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
It helps me to perform my job with more precision, accuracy and also with pride.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
There are many, although I haven’t yet participated in them. It is something I wish to do in the future and is very talked about from our employer, to be positive and sought after.
