Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
On a day to day basis there were different activities on different days of the Business of Law week including a simulation exercise in teams, multiple opportunities to get to know people at the firm and upskill ourselves in terms of public speaking, well-being and attention to detail.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
It was interesting because we got insight from people at the firm directly who had taken the time out to speak to us one on one.

Yes, I have learnt how to present myself with presence and how to structure my speeches. Moreover, I have also refined my time management and team management skills as I had multiple opportunities to work in a team

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The culture of the firm is extremely growth-driven. People at the firm really care about your career development shown in different ways such as trainees being able to reach out to partners, getting credit for their work and their approachability and honesty in terms of their expertise and experience with the firm.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
I enjoyed the session thoroughly because it helped me grow and understand my potential in the legal industry. Moreover, it developed specific professional skills such as public speaking, maintaining relationships with coworkers and really gave a taste of what it is like to work. This week was an incredible transition into the world of work for most of us as we are graduating from university.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to CMS
I would suggest researching the firm and speaking to the lawyers at the firm before applying because everyone at CMS has an incredible, approachable attitude which really gives insight into the firm's culture.
