Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I prepare accounts and personal tax for clients, do VAT returns and bookkeeping. I have to call clients and HMRC and be in contact with other people in the team. I have to be time efficient and know when to ask for help or other peoples input.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I really enjoy it. I find my work really interesting and it feels really good having recognition when my work is really good. The feedback i get on jobs is really helpful the managers explain it all very well and actually teach you how to do things when you are not sure. There is plenty of support from everyone around and all i have to do is ask.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Everything i do is new to me and i could not do it before i joined. I have learnt how to prepare a set of accounts and what each thing means in the accounts, how to do a bank reconciliation, VAT returns, good time management, how to plan my day

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
It is well organised and i am very informed on my progress and the plan ahead. I learn and do things at work that me understand college more because i am actually doing it every day. As well my college work allows me to understand why i do certain things at work
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
All the support i need. There are check ins quarterly that check how i am progressing and if anything needs changing. I can also ask anyone at work for help at any point and they will always be happy too. I can get support with work and college through my employer. Plans can be made if i am struggling to assess what is the best way for me to be the best that i can
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I get meetings monthly with my college assessor but i can also email whenever for any support that i need. We are giving work and many resources to help us complete it. My college lecturer is always contactable through email and gives us lots of questions and papers to help our understanding. My lecturer will sit down with individuals who need the extra help and will go through anything, how ever many times they need it.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
It helps me to understand why i do what i do and makes it easier for me to do my job to a high standard. It enables me to take on more difficult tasks with minimal help which helps my team and allows me to do different types of jobs
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
We have quarterly department socials and a Christmas party that are really good to be involved in as they bring you closer to the people we work with. We also get to part take in sports days and have client events that we are involved in, as well as having charity events for our chose of charity

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend DJH to a friend?
Yes
Why?
The environment to work in is fantastic. There is always someone laughing in the office and its a really comfortable environment. You can speak to anyone even if you have never spoke to them before and its like we already know each other. It is really confidence building because everyone is so nice and will help you with anything no matter what it is. You can freely talk about your problems work-related or not and people will always support you
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to DJH?
You just need to show that you are a nice and friendly person so talk about your hobbies and interests. You need to be ambitious and want to do the best that you can. You are expected to work to a high standard at work and at college so you have to be motivated and be willing to put the work in but that doesn't mean you need to work outside your hours.
