Junior Advisor - Daily Bookkeeping, VAT Reviews, Monthly Management Information, Year End Accounts. I interact with the Accounts teams/Owners of the Bookkeeping Clients Daily. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I am pushed to take on more responsibility when both they and I feel i am ready to take it which stops tasks feeling monotonous and the External Training at First Intuition is usually once a week which is a nice break from being in the office. PM+M also offer a lot of flexibility around working hours which helps with maintaining a healthy work/life balance. They also allow working from home which means stressful situations like your car breaking down or needing an MOT is a lot easier as you can work from home while getting it fixed.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Prior to this i had no accounting experience. Since joining i have been taught how to carry out all of the tasks above. It has also developed my confidence in different situations as well as improving my communication with both Finance and Non-Finance Stakeholders.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

My Programme is very well structured/organised from both PM+M and First Intuition. My responsibilities have been gradually inclining since i joined until im at the point now were im ready to start delegating some of my responsibilities to the newest apprentices in my team. Management and Seniors have spent a lot of time making sure my workload isn't too hectic whilst also pushing me to take on more complicated tasks to improve my learning.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

PM+M offer a lot of support. We have performance reviews which you can decide how often you do them and they offer the chance to speak about anything you are unhappy with or anything you would like to push for. There is also an internal mental health team and a code to the 'WeCare Programme' were you can access up to 10 sessions with Psychotherapists.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

First Intuition are a great training provider that have great Tutors. As well as the great tutor they have a wide range of materials for every course that you can use to help revise. I have just finished my level 3 and haven't failed a test so far.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

Being in the cloud accountancy team a lot of the topics in the Level 2/3 courses are done for us through software however if errors occur the information I've learned from the training provider helps create a logical way of finding the possible errors and re entering them in the correct way.

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Each team gets a social fund which is spent based on what each team wants to do. There was also a corporate football team which played against other corporate football teams. There also lots of networking events that are offered out at different levels and you also get the opportunity to go to different colleges/schools to speak to the students about what you do to give them an insight to what an accountancy apprenticeship is really like

Why?

PM+M is a great place to work. The people in the company are extremely kind, understanding and most importantly in an apprenticeship helpful. There is a massive focus on providing the best learning possible for Apprentices and making sure they understand not only what there doing but why they're doing it which has also helped when Completing my Level 3 Exams as i have the practical knowledge as well as what i was taught when attending the classes at the training provider.
