Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Talking to peers and clients on comming up with software solutions that help engineers in their daily live.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
Highly! The university education is highly informative and connective to the work environment. The job itself teaches a lot of the skills but never rushes the education as everyone is aware that apprenticeship is about learning.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learned a lot of the hard skills for the software development, how to create a webiste from stratch, how to maintain one and how to design one based on requirements. I also learned a lot of soft skills such as presenting, communicating and effective networking!

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
Highly! There is a structure in place to introduce the apprentices to their work and the uni and work life is split. Whenever university work gets too much Arup is always happy to help with managing the time. It's always easy to know who to contact for help.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Arup is great at suporting, the support given is the amount that I require. As an apprentice, I'm highly knowladgeble who to contact for help whenever it's needed. There are regular checkups which encourage us to speak up if any issues arrises.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
A lot, UWL is a pretty encouraging with helping with the apprenticeship. As much as the learning is combined with university students where university students might not know that apprentices are busy at work, the teachers are pretty knowladgeble and provide support when needed.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
A lot, a large part of the learning is reflected at work which helps with my problem solving skills.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes! Arup organizes a lot of social activities for networking and relaxing. Theres a big range of activities related to learning and self improvement. Apprenticeship external meetings are also encouraged.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Arup to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It's friendly, encouranging to continue improving and learning. Theres a lot of social activities and benefits such as hybrid working.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Arup?
Not only for Arup, but everywhere else, be yourself. Being yourself is valued way more then lying on who you are as this will come out sooner or later.
