Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
The Business of Law programme was a one week virtual programme with various activities. These included presentations given by senior members of the firm and also interactive simulation activities. There was also the opportunity to take part in Q&A sessions throughout the week.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
There were multiple talks with various members of the firm (both legal and non-legal) which gave me a really in-depth understanding of the firm from multiple perspectives. There was also the opportunity to ask questions to various people that have different job roles within the firm which was very interesting.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
My collaborative skills greatly improved as the programme involves a lot of group work. I also improved my public speaking skills as there are lots of opportunities to present your ideas to members of the firm.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The culture at CMS is one of the reasons that the firm stands out to me. Everyone was so welcoming - both fellow participants and also employees of the firm. I was nervous before the placement started but everyone made me feel so welcome from the very start.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
The Business of Law programme was very enjoyable. It was amazing to be able to meet so many different people, both employees at the firm and also my fellow participants. There were so many different types of activities that each day was different and really engaging. Overall, it was an amazing week.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to CMS
Be yourself! The firm is not looking for perfection and you don't need to be that! Be curious, ask questions and get involved! Knowledge can be taught and learnt but your attitude towards activities cannot!
