Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My role is a service engineer for building controls, which entails the control of plant through readings of sensors and programs controlling the plant based off of our readings. This is done to ensure the building systems are running as economical/environmentally friendly as possible.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I find the program enjoyable as they provide a good training network and allow me to work on varying sites with equipment and software and the fore front of the industry.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Continued my development on working with in house software and equipment as well as my knowledge of different plant systems and creating and improving customer relations.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

The programme is structured well with a clear outline of what we will be learning and what is expected of us. They also listen to apprentices issues and try their best to correct them if possible and alter the program making it fit better for the new cohorrt.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

Support is offered when it is needed/asked for but they allow you the independence to monitor your own time and learning.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

Regular meetings occur to monitor and track our progress and there is helped if needed and asked for by the apprentices.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

As we are on a design course and we are field base it doesn't have a massive overlap but it allows us to see why certain systems have been chosen and how these systems should operate.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are regular family days that anyone can attend as well as mini projects from around the world you can put yourself forward for to be involved in.

It is a good company at the fore front of the industry with a good benefit package. Also, due to them being a global company there is opportunity's to move around the world whilst staying at the company if you wish.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Schneider Electric?
Be inquisitive about the work and the goals of Schneider, showing willingness and determination to learn a skill that is lacking un the industry.
