Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Good balance of commissioning engineering on big projects and also university. Networking with different engineers within the company, different departments and even different organizations. Responsibility is to Power up control panels, Power test them and have them signed off and shipped to site where it can be installed and commissioned.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I enjoy it very much.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I've developed engineering skills as much as networking and communication skills. It's such an all rounded job that you get the opportunity to work in any department and gain different skills.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
Very well structured and a good balance of university, training and work
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
More support than I expected to be honest. They prioritize on employees health and safety, comfort within the workplace etc. Weekly and monthly 1 to 1s with manager, regular trainings and shadowing engineers etc.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
Training provided assists my engineering technical knowledge and also health and safety etc. They align with my qualification requirements
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
The amount of training being provided would even assist someone starting from scratch with no previous knowledge as they don't assume anyone to be competent from the start and aid employees with any sort of training. Even on repeat if one doesn't yet feel comfortable yet. Reassuring and supportive environment to settle in.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Apprenticeship awards, Employee meet and greets, coffee roulettes with employees, visiting schools, visiting girl schools to encourage engineering to young girls who may feel isolated in this interest. Very supportive and innovative environment

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Schneider Electric to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Honestly, what really stood out to me compared to other places is how much they care about the new apprentices – like, their enthusiasm, how passionate they are, and just their personality. It's not like those other apprenticeships where it's all about who aces the maths tests and stuff. Schneider seems way more focused on making sure the workplace is actually a good place to be, and I reckon that's what helps the whole company do well.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Schneider Electric?
Seriously, don't sweat it too much – just be you. This company gives you loads of support and training to turn anyone into a really good engineer and all that. What they really care about is what kind of person you are and what you bring to the table. Show them you're keen, and even if you're not the best at talking, just get stuck in. Especially at the assessment centre, let your passion show and that you really want to be part of the team.
