Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Everyday is different for me, from completing accounts and working papers to send off for review to managers, completing VAT and CIS Returns and bookkeeping jobs, with a lot of support from peers. I prepare corporation tax returns and personal tax returns also, so varied work.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I thoroughly enjoy my job role and I am grateful that at DJH we have very supportive peers who are always happy to help, we also have flexible working which helps me to create a better work-life balance
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Yes, I have developed my time management skills and communication skills so much more in this role due to having more serious deadlines
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

Each level of the programme is slightly harder than before, we have training academies at work to help us progress alongside college studies. It is very well organised and there is different sized clients to help us progress
How much support do you receive from your employer?

There is lots of training academies available at DJH to help support studies and gain more experience and skills, we have regular catch ups with our college assessors so we can raise any issues and we have regular catch ups with managers to ensure we have everything at work
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

we have regular catch ups with college assessors to ensure everything at college is going safely and lecturers are also available on email and teach in a style that suits us and our class
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

learning at college is solidifying and strengthening everything we have learned at work and is helping us to better our work and complete more complex sets of accounts
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes, we have a few accounts socials throughout the year to bring the team together so we can talk to people we don't usually get to at work and we have a Summer Summit every year which is where the CEO discusses our goals for the future and we have food and drinks as well as fun games. Every month we have a social where we have food come to the office

Why?
DJH are very supportive and have helped me to feel comfortable and confident in my role, there is support available and flexible working times so I can fit my appointments in with ease. I enjoy work and that is the most important thing
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to DJH?
Be yourself! They want people who will fit in well with the team and everyone gets on with each other, they are a caring firm who are always happy to show you around the office when you join so you can get a feel or the company better
