Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I work for Client Service Delivery team within Natural Resources at Aon. This involves supporting Client Managers with processing tasks such as creating: insurance quote slips, endorsements, invoicing instructions and premium calculations, and answering queries for both Energy and Power risks/projects. This role is key for supporting client managers by ensuring invoices are sent out in time.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I really enjoy the apprenticeship programme because everyone i have work with are great people who are very helpful which i have built strong relationships with and I really enjoy the networking side and meeting new people.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have learnt and developed skills using technical software aswell as using excel effectively to create premium calculations. I have also developed professionalism in formal situations such as meeting new people and client meetings.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The early careers team at Aon have set up a very well structured and strong plan to support and guide me through the apprenticeship and onboarding process. The learning support from Davies is also great because my coach has supported me along the way to extend my knowledge as i work towards my CII qualification.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I receive a lot of support with day to day work from Aon with many experienced members within my team who are always willing to help. I am also given time to complete apprenticeship tasks such as exams and coursework which are also supported by the early careers team who organise learning workshops with Davies learning provider.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
I receive lots of support from Davies because they have a wide range of learning resources and my Davies coach ensures that i stay on top of this and I can always go to them if i have any issues or confusion. Davies also have a well structured plan to ensure we pass the apprenticeship.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I believe the CII qualification is very helpful because it has taught me the basics of insurance and also the very technical side of insurance which has helped me understand my job role because it is very closely linked especially the London Market exams.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
I know there are 6 aside football teams which Aon offer you to join and also many networking events that i have attended and really enjoyed meeting new people and catching up. The job itself is very social which is great.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Aon to a friend?
Yes
Why?
The job is very social which is why i enjoy it a lot and I feel extremely valued as an employee, even though I thought that starting as an apprentice would be a lot different. There is lots of guidance and support and everyone is keen to help each other because we work as a team. There are plenty of opportunities to grow within Aon, especially the apprenticeship scheme which will reward you with the DIP CII qualification whilst being able to work and earn experience alongside.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Aon?
Research facts about the company and identify your skills and how they link to the job role you are applying for. Make sure you are being yourself and don't feel overwhelmed by the size of the company. Make sure you know why you want to join the company and what makes you suited for the role.
