Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My role is within the audit department, this includes being a part of a financial audit team with my colleagues. Includes going out on site and interacting face to face with clients who operate in different sectors and industries. It also includes completing different testing of client financial information and then regularly being involved preparing accounts for the client. It involves hitting legal and other reporting deadlines.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy the fact that I get to work with different people and different clients who work in different industries. I like going out and seeing how cars get built and how that ties into finances. The team is also very together and everyone is friendly and kind.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Yes, my teamwork skills have vastly improved since joining. This is due to my role involving working in smaller teams of 3/4 people, as it is important to ensure that everyone is comfortable this involves receiving help and giving help to different levels of people. Also, a new skill I have developed is my software skills. My skills on Microsoft software and audit software was very little and has vastly developed since joining.

How well organised/structured is your programme?

There is a good level of structure to my programme for example upon joining I received a training bootcamp which gave me an insight on all departments and my firms values.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive plenty of support from my employer. Managers are all very easy to talk to and are willing to listen to anything. If I for example and struggling for time this does get sorted and rearranged to ensure I do not have to stress about overworking.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I study at in person sessions, have support from tutors and access to numerous online resources. My provider also offers soft skills workshops.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I think my qualification and my role go hand in hand, if I get better at one I get better at both. As these are both technical elements my study can give me new approaches which I may not have thought of prior to them. I believe it makes me perform better.

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are numerous events that get offered by my workplace, social activities are plentiful and spread out across the year. We have done sports teams before especially in the summer and there are a lot of networking events that get offered by my workplace. Plenty which increase my quality of work.

Why?

The firm has a strong identity and has a lot of benefits for working for such as flexible hours and social events. The management is also very communicative with updates being released by our management recently meaning we are always kept in the loop. The values of the firm are also very respectable and in line with a lot of peoples values. The quality of work life balance is strong.
