Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Preparation of statutory accounts, vat returns, corporation tax computations and returns, audit and assurance work, bookkeeping, basic payroll skills and client networking and advisory work.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I enjoy the variety of tasks that I am asked to perform at work, and am surrounded by a supportive and qualified team to help guide me through work tasks as well as my studies.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
DJH has built up my confidence and built business development skills. My problem solving and critical thinking has improved. I'm better at organisation, time management and forward planning due to managing the deadlines given in an accounts job.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
DJH has the most comprehensive study package amongst competitors in the region, with paid study days before exams and all exams being booked by the company, leaving students to only need to worry about revision. We also have learning & development supervisors to help with any issues we have.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Regular team support and development meetings (TSDs) every 4 months to catch up on progress plus coaching sessions with my L&D supervisor to help aid me with any study queries. Our training provider NSCG is also incredibly helpful and the teachers are always happy to help.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
Constant revision materials and study support as well as additional revision sessions for people to attend if they require so. Also the AAT online study materials which the college encourage us to complete alongside the revision packs that they provide.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
All of the information is relevant to my job and improves my understanding of accounting processes such as controls, double entry, variance analysis & ratios etc.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Lots of charity events and social activities outside of work, including at least 2 accounts team socials a year + the Xmas do which brings together the entire Stoke office. I have a very good relationship with my colleagues and feel I can speak to people if needed.
