Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
On a day to day basis I am constantly challenged to improve my knowledge and skill with different tasks within the workplace. As I develop through my apprenticeship the tasks in which I have been trusted with have increased in difficulty. This ranges from accounts preparation, VAT work, preparing management accounts, bookkeeping and client interaction.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
As someone who has joined DJH after completing previous apprenticeships at a prior workplace I can confidently say that DJH is the best place I have worked. It is a breath of fresh air to see the type of culture which has been put in place here and how all my colleagues had welcomed me to be a part of the team from day one. The apprenticeship has been an enjoyable experience so far and I look forward to completing it in due time.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
A skill in which I believe has developed since my move to DJH is my confidence and overall ability to interact with clients. This is a highly valuable skill in which is not taught in the classroom and comes with real life experience and guidance from more senior colleagues.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The structure of my apprenticeship was shown to me from my first day. We have a specific Learning and Development team in which there role is to make sure we are as supported as possible throughout our learning. Knowing that this support is there is a fantastic opportunity that you don't receive at many firms and it is a privilege to have it.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive regular catch ups with my line manager in which how I am feeling about my apprenticeship. This is relayed back to the Learning and Development team so we can talk about any issues I am having and try and fix them for me. The support I receive is reassuring that I can finish my apprenticeship to the best of my ability.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I have catch ups with my college assessor every four weeks to make sure I am doing okay and to answer any questions I may be having. This is where we go through any portfolio work or any subjects in which I have difficulty understanding. Then every six weeks I have catch ups with both my college assessor and my Learning and Development coach where we discuss how I am performing on the apprenticeship on both a work level and a college level. I also have weekly lectures from college in which we learn the syllabus on a well thought out time frame which has yielded good results for me so far.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
I have utilised what I have been learning at college within my work since my first module. Everything I have learnt at college has allowed me to be trusted to complete more complex tasks as I progress further and further through my apprenticeship. I am feeling more confident every week within the workplace and I believe a lot of that is down to what I have learnt through my apprenticeship.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
I have been involved in multiple extra-curricular activities at DJH as there are quarterly socials which I attend with my colleagues. We do a lot of charity work e.g. having raised a large sum of money for charity with the Yorkshire three peaks challenge and later this year I am representing DJH at the annual 'Knot a sports day' event held in Stoke-on-Trent.
