Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Within my job, I am responsible for designing and creating solutions to engineering problems, managing and processing engineering documents, and communicating internally and externally with colleagues of the same role and differing ones.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I am really enjoying my apprenticeship, being able to work on something to the scale of a submarine, is obviously a unique experience. I am currently going round on different placements and I am enjoying the variety and differences between the work.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
Yes, I have learnt and developed many new skills, not just design and CAD related ones, but also improved my communication skills and professionalism.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The programme is very well structured and runs very smoothly from start to finish, as they have been doing this programme for years, training up many apprentices in that time, so any issues have been ironed out.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I cannot fault the support I get from any sort of issue from my employer. There are many processes and people in place to help with everything.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
2/5
Some support is offered when completing work towards my qualification, however, this is mainly from my employer, who offer tutoring from previous apprentices.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
2/5
Some aspects of my qualification help in my day to day work, however, not all of it is necessary for me to perform better in my job.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are extra-curricular activities to get involved in all the time, from sports events, to work doos, fundraisers, and many more.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I would definitely recommend BAE Systems to a friend for many reasons. One being the incredible work and opportunities that you get to be a part of, giving you a sense of pride over your work. Another being how well looked after and the community within the company and surrounding area, this is due to the working environment created by both the employer and the employees.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
Try to get involved and attend the social events put on, as that is how you make friends and makes the working experience better. Also not to worry if you are unsure about your job role, as within each job there are so many different experiences, and it is very common for people to switch roles if they want to try something new.
