Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
In my role I am involved with environmental testing of assets on a day-to-day basis. My job role includes preparing tests and environments, executing tests and analysing the data gathered from the tests. I am in the Trials Delivery Team and I work closely with my colleagues every day. Depending on the stage different trials are at, I usually work on a variety of different projects per day.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I have thoroughly enjoyed most of the programme, as it provides you with the ability to learn and work. I really enjoyed going on the Outward Bounds experience with the other apprentices from my sector of the business, which included many outdoor activities and learning. My only negative view on the programme is the communication throughout the business.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have improved my ability to work well with others, communication, literacy and IT skills, and time management skills. | have been trained externally on different expertise like radiography, FLT operation, working at height, confined spaces, explosive safety and management, crane operation, lifting and slinging, and manual handling. I have also completed a lot of internal training on the different systems and specialist equipment that I use.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
2/5
From my personal experience it didn't feel necessarily well organised. When I started college I wasn't sent a schedule of what classes I had to go to and I started later than the rest of the students. I was sent a PPE form to fill in prior to starting, but I didn't receive the correct PPE until 6 months later. When the trip to Outward Bounds was organised it was only the week before I was meant to go. Also my Early careers manager changed a number of times and I had no contact of when they had changed over.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
At my immediate workplace I receive a lot of support, however my early careers manager has had limited contact with me as that job role was filled by a number of people over my apprenticeship.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
The support from the college was amazing and they help you whenever needed
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
Personally I don't think the HNC I completed relates that much with my role. I think the main reason for this is it is a really niche job role, so most courses wont cover a lot of it. However, I do think I gained a lot of knowledge from my qualification in how to accurately explain issue/problems and different systems. It has also provided me with presenting skills and research skills.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
Occasionally the site that I work at has a night out to go and perform different activities like darts and bowling. My apprenticeship has provided me with the opportunity to go and visit other sites.
