Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Providing administrative first line support to lifeboat station staff and volunteers, lifeguard teams. Working with suppliers, organising contracts for sites, ordering supplies and kit, coordinating crew cover. Working on regional improvement projects. Organising events and meetings. Awareness of budgets and costings for region.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I have enjoyed the programme very much. I have grown professionally as a result and am positive about my future career progression.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Yes, developed project management skills and have developed my ability to deal with conflict or disgruntled stakeholders. Have developed my ability to manage expectations. I have also developed my skills in training team members on systems and processes. As well as developed my ability to write and develop process documents and highlight areas for improvement.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

Very well structured, the online portal is clear about timeframes and the work required at each stage. I am able to see if I am on track with the various areas of the programme.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I have had good support from my employer, who have given me the time to complete my studies. During a time of staff absence last year, my employer allowed me to pause the apprenticeship so that I wasn't overloaded as I was picking up additional responsibilities in my role. I have now restarted and am given the time I need to complete the course.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I receive very good support from my trainer - she is always contactable if I have any queries and supports me with the information I need to complete the course.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

It enables me to have the confidence with my interactions with colleagues, particularly with senior colleagues and members of the leadership team. I am able to handle conflict or difficult situations well.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are some activities that generally take place at the HQ in Poole, such as quiz nights, networking events, however I do not live near there so cannot attend.

Yes
Why?
They are very supportive and actually care about wellbeing and progression of their employees. Everyone is passionate about their cause. Everyone is friendly and proud to be part of the charity. There are multiple pathways for development available.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to RNLI College?
To spend some time researching the charity and all of the things it does. The vision of the charity is what drives everyone's work
