As a Reinsurance Cyber broker (apprentice) my day to day consists of shadowing the Cyber Brokers within my team to gain in depth knowledge and understanding about the industry. I also meet and establish relationships with clients as this is crucial within broking and allows for the renewal process to run smoothly.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I am currently enjoying my apprenticeship as there is so much to learn and it is extremely advantageous as learning on the job has so many benefits where I am consolidating all that I am learning in an efficient way which allows me to enjoy what I am doing even more.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have developed networking and presenting skills which is crucial within my role. Furthermore, I have developed an understanding of insurance Jargon which is useful as I can make sense of many conversations and has helped to improve my insurance knowledge. My communication skills have also improved in general where I find it easier to present ideas I have in a more eloquen

How well organised/structured is your programme?

My programme is somewhat organised where I believe there is a set structure but initially there was a lack in communication this has improved as I have reached out for more support and assistance during my journey.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive a lot of support from both my employer and also my learning provider. And this is allowing for my apprenticeship journey to run smoothly where I know that there is support available to me at all times which is very helpful. There is also additional recourses and materials for exams if I am struggling.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

A lot of support is received although exams can be difficult there is a lot of support when struggling with exam of if we ever fail an exam.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The qualifications help so much as it improves my understanding of all that I should be doing and consolidates all my learning. This allows me to understand things more quickly and expand my knowledge.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are multiple networking events that I have attended and I have also had the chance to join a committee as a Communications lead which has definitely been beneficial for me allowing for me to network with a variety of individuals within my firm.

The Culture and community is extremely positive an friendly where everyone supports everyone in all that they are doing and wants everyone to succeed as an individual. Everyone is eager to offer help and teach me even as the apprentice within the team.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Aon?
Ensure to know the job description very well as this is what employers at Aon are specifically looking for. Network with apprentices at Aon on linked in and ask questions and advice. Research and know the values of the company and explain how this resonates with you. Also explain how you would positively impact the company/team. ask questions and keep the interview positive - no complaining!
