Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Inspecting, maintaining and repairing electrical distribution substations for voltages below and including 132 thousand volts.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
Engaging, educational while varied and important enough to keep you on your toes. The inherent danger of electricity helps to keep one engaged too.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Electrical fitting, law, PPE, role specific tool use, safety
developed basic mathematics and electrical fundamentals

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
Organised and clearly communicated without being overwhelming or overbearing.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
Employer and internal documentation is concise, informative and helpful. But training on navigating those systems and understanding workplace parlance needs improvement as such I find myself needed to reach out for support more often than I should.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
Excellent, helpful. Always available and provide ample utilities for guided self discovery.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
At time of writing, only basic work completed with the provider that recaps GCSEs. Personally useful though not anything that I couldn't have already applied on site.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
While at training provider weekly enrichment activities occur. SSE provides many options too though doesn't mandate attendance.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend SSE to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Well organised, important work with a supportive corporate and very knowledgeable reasonable workers.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to SSE?
Spend a few hours flicking though the corporate document library regarding policy statements and goals as beyond safety and netzero none are actively communicated.
