Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
The maintenance and inspection of the electrical apparatus and switchgear on the electrical distribution industry.
I would typically go out, inspect the switchgear off of a given worklist. this would then be planned in to be maintained after looking on site at the job at hand. A 'switching schedule' will be written and then approved by the control centre, I would then go out with a team and carry out the job at hand.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I enjoy it a lot, never feels like 'work' as such, feels very good to come into the place called work and just enjoy every moment.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Yes, all of the thing I know now about the network I have learnt out on site gaining valuable experience and also through teachings at college

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
Very well, always kept up to date with future training etc.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
A lot, always feel backed and supported, there is always someone on the end of the phone
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
Again, a lot. If there are areas of struggle, I have always been backed and supported.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
As I can advance my own job role and progress through the ranks becoming more experienced and more qualified
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
N/A

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend SSE to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It is a very welcoming business with a great sense of community.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to SSE?
Don't be afraid to ask questions, everyone is so supportive and are so keen and willing to help out, because at the end of the day when out on site especially things have to be right, so asking for help is always a good thing.
