As an EC&I Technician I carry out preventative maintenance on all electrical assets on site and carry out installation/commissioning of new items of plant or apparatus. I also get involved with the day to day planning of activates. This includes engineering of work order, ordering parts, issuing of safety documentation/work orders and finally receipting work orders and carrying out the work.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I enjoy the lecture and the content of some subjects as they are relevant to my role and potentially progression role. but I don't seem to be able to put these skills to use at work in my current role.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
2/5
During the apprenticeship I have gained new skills through the university lectures/lab work but as for on the job skills I am just developing myself as a technician and not a engineering role which is what my degree is pushing towards.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
2/5
Overall the programme at university is very well structured but sometimes the timetable has let me down as some lecture or sessions don't appear until the day or miscommunication with tutors. There is no programme at base at Keadby power station this is all run through the university. SSE hasn't provided any plan/programme to allow me to gain the experience/skills required.

2/5
Minimal
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

The subject which are on campus there is plenty of support but the summer semester the subject are online which makes the support difficult.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
2/5
I don't think it is helping me at the minute as I am not doing the role my degree is preparing myself for. .
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
2/5
No.
