Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

On a day to day basis, I am at college completing assignments and assessments that contribute to my course until July when we head back to site. It means that I complete assessments that are to do with electronic maintenance with fault finding and building circuit boards to specific requirements
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy the programme and course I am on. It isn't too fast paced and all the information is given to you to help pass the course. There isn't to many people in the classes and it varies of who is in your class. This is good as it means you have more chance to meet new people.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have developed my soldering skills in the units that we have completed so far. I have developed my confidence and presentation skills. This has helped as it was very hard to present to a lot of people at the start and now I have got more confident its easier to present to the cohort or group.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

It is very well organised. BTEC is well structured there isn't too many assignments at the same time. Sometimes it can be difficult to fit them in if there isn't assignment lessons to work on your assignments but overall there is usually enough time. Workshops is okay sometimes the assessments can take a while to get onto as we are waiting for others to finish but we usually finish by the set time and date.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I have received a lot of support which is very helpful. They do reviews to make sure that we are okay and to keep up to date if we are having any problems or struggles. They always reply to their emails if I have any queries.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

We have lots of different tutors at our college. I feel we get a good amount of support from all tutors. Some aren't always able to help as they are busy which is understandable. Some don't always answer their emails so it can be hard to ask questions but most of them are quick to answer.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

At the moment, I am not working back at my company only at college. When I go back to work it will be beneficial as I will understand more on electronical systems ready for working back at the company. I do feel it will help out when I go back to my company
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

I am not sure of any at the moment as I am not back at the company. I am hoping to join some if there is any to join as it will increase bonds and will help with my confidence.

BAE Systems is a great company to work for. They have an amazing apprenticeship scheme to work alongside and everyone is welcoming to help you in any way you need. The team is supportive towards you and helps you through your qualification.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
Always be yourself and have the confidence to apply. It a great opportunity and not one to miss out on.
