Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
1/5
Full time college first year, have not experienced much time on site yet. Coleg Gwent I would not suggest to go there for the mechanical course cuz the practical side is very good but the theory side the teachers except for a couple are no good.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
1/5
Not at all because of majority of the tutors teaching the theory side in college

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Learnt how to use a lathe and miller. Developed my hand fitting skills.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
When starting we went away for 2 days to have meetings about BAE, when back home we were told to go to site for the next 2 days and turns out they didn't plan anything for the level 3 students. Otherwise it is very good except in college obviously.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
2/5
Haven't received any so far but I haven't looked for it just yet and I know there is only one person in the early careers area so I understand his plate might be a bit full.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
1/5
Certain tutors are great at providing a lot of support when asked but two certain ones do not one seems to never understand what is being asked and the other tells us once how to do something and shows a band 1 example which is the lowest and that's it.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
1/5
Practical side 10/10 easily. But theory side maybe if the tutors were better at tutoring then maybe I would feel different but I don't think it'll help much if at all.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
I know every Thursday the apprentices go to the pub after work for a pint, every Tuesday there is a group that plays 6 a side football after their shift, on-site gym for use before or after shift, other than those I don't know of any others but I am sure their are others.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Even though the course I am taking at college is shockingly bad I would still suggest the company to a friend because it is a great company after all last I checked it's something crazy like 99% of their apprenticeships stay on with BAE.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
Be yourself, they want someone that will be able to work well and get along with people also who are willing to give anything a go and have an actual interests in what you are applying for and what the company make.
