Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I work closely with lawyers in my practice group to advance transactions and meet client expectations. I spend significant time shadowing senior colleagues, proofreading contracts, drafting brief agreements and letters, and liaising with clients and external solicitors to facilitate deals.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I thoroughly enjoy my apprenticeship. Each day is full constant learning, professional and personal development, and endless opportunities to work on exciting projects.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
I have developed essential skills required for both legal and professional roles. My soft skills and professional conduct have improved significantly. I have gained new technical legal skills, including foundational drafting abilities, ethical conduct, and the ability to work with and summarise complex legal language in documents.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
The programme is reasonably well organised with a clear structure of how the 6 years will be broken down.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Pinsent Masons offers endless support for apprentices and employees generally. All the way from other apprentices in older cohorts, through to partners and senior lawyers, the firm does a great job in guiding and supporting apprentices. The Early Talent Team are also amazing at addressing concerns, or problems we may face.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
I receive a decent amount of support from ULAW and the lecturers.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
The content and training provided by ULAW don't always align with my role at the firm. However, the case analysis skills and attention to detail practiced with my training provider are often helpful in my job.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
There are a wide variety of clubs, work socials, and networking events that everyone, including apprentices, can get involved in and are often encouraged to do so. Each practice group regularly participates in socials and events together, and the firm also hosts external events with clients, helping us to develop our networking skills.
