Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I am an apprentice project manager at Toyota GB PLC, headquarters. My role involves supporting my team with key projects involving the network dealership training in new courses or bespoke events such as when there is a new project launch. I also have my own projects which also involve implementing industry project management practices into my team who are made up of a mix of roles.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
A lot! I love working in a diverse workplace which welcomes new ideas and initiatives, kaizen is one of the core Toyota pillars so I feel as though my voice is valued. I also am supported by a range of training courses Toyota offers and review sessions with my manager.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
I have developed my excel skills as I work on creating and analysing reports, I have developed my written communication skills as well as public speaking. I have developed hard skills of organising work experience, utilising project management practices such as creating a balanced scorecard for supplier bidding process.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
it is organised well, although apprenticeships are fairly new to the organisation therefore the mold is being created as we progress! Our objectives and projects are set annually however there is constant ad hoc initiatives for us to work on.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I receive good support from my manager, who I work on projects with and alone. They guide me in tasks but also allow for the appropriate autonomy that an apprentice should have.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
2/5
They do not support us on a 1-1 basis with our on-the-job project's, however the course of my degree is very helpful to my role as a project manager, and the university offers lot's of opportunities to strech our qualifications and go beyond what is expected of us such as an APM PMQ qualification and a 'Service Now' administrators qualification which is optional however extremely time consuming therefore there is simply not enough time to do it as well as our normal studies, assignments and on-the-job work.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
Very well, without my qualification in project management I feel as though the basics would be missed greatly, although my work is less demanding for the extremely technical side of project management, all principles are required and beneficial to know as I get my own projects, such as the project lifecycle, IT project management, persuasive and business writing and more.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
yes we have a sports and social club, volunteering days, charity fun runs and more activities!
