Overall Rating

4.3 /5

The Overall Rating is the average of all the ratings given in each category. We take those individual ratings and combine them into one final score!

4.2/5 - Structure and Support

Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Preparation of corporation tax computations, corporation tax advisory and planning work, ongoing support with business tax related issues
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
The exams and studying for them is interesting and at times can be enjoyable - the time consuming Kaplan/Onefile admin side of things that is required to secure the government funding makes it significantly less enjoyable though.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I've developed many skills during my apprenticeship, ranging from interpersonal and communication skills to accounting and tax technical knowledge

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The programme is well structured, leaving enough time for flexibility in exam sittings to still qualify on time. I do wish however that school leavers could start their apprenticeships from day one, and not the January after joining.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive all the support required from my employer and colleagues surrounding me.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
The support offered by Kaplan is one of their biggest resources, definitely a big positive.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
The qualification helps develop both my knowledge of accounting principles, as well as tax technical knowledge - both of which are needed to succeed in my role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
There are plenty of departmental socials, and then the occasional company/apprentice socials + Christmas parties.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Cooper Parry to a friend?
Yes
Why?
A firm focussed on people first and output second, rather than working you to the bone like a big four company would. You feel valued and not like a number on a spreadsheet. The benefits such as flexible working, 100-80-100 and unlimited holiday are unrivalled.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Cooper Parry?
Be ready for a fast paced environment, with plenty of opportunities to grow and take on new responsibilties.
