Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
As a Fabricator I do many things on a day to day basis. Always making things following a PT consisting of work instructions and risk assessments. It also includes drawings for me to read and analyse.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
I do really enjoy the program, however there are a few areas that need adjusting more relating to the college side and the extent of curriculum we need to know. It needs to be more trade specific.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have developed many new skills related to fabrication. A lot of these skills I have been able to implement in my normal day to day life such as sade lifting techniques and also safe working practices ensuring I'm not putting myself at risk.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
The program structure was poor in the first year of college as there were minimal classrooms, coursework wasn't given till later on in the course. The second year was similar in which classrooms and access to computers was limited. Moving into the 3rd year it felt a lot of this issues had been resolved and it seems to be much smoother. From Babcocks end the structure is really good however communication is still a massive issue.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I have loads of support from my employer, if ever I need help with anything or need to talk about things or ask questions they are always there to help and understand.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
We receive loads of support from the lecturers and and they help as much as they can if we have any questions about the work.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
The College and Babcock provide very sufficient and in depth training courses for safety, awareness, safe working practices and more. For me this helps me be more conscious about what I'm doing and helps me develop to a professional standard.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
There are loads of internal and external events to be apart of. Sometimes the company asks people to join in going to events to help promote and talk about their experiences within the company to help employ new people.
