Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
Each day tends to be different, but tasks I usually complete include talking to suppliers, running meetings and giving presentations on project updates.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
1/5
I think that the scheme I am on isn't very streamlined.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Yes many, such as leadership, collaboration and teamwork. As well as practical skills like stakeholder management and contracting work.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
1/5
Similar to my previous answer, I do not think the scheme I am on has been streamlined and there are new issues that arise monthly, with University and work.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
2/5
I think the support I get from my employer varies, and if I want support I need to go and find it when I think it should always be available to me.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
1/5
I think the support I receive from the University of Cumbria is very poor. Assignment briefings are always changed and there is a clear misalignment within the teaching team.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
1/5
I don't think that the degree I am getting is contributing much to my work. Most of my learning is on the job as the way the university teach is not in the same format as the BAE Systems process.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes, there are many social events running across all of the sites in the south. As well as a big annual Early careers Networking Event.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I think that the qualifications I will obtain at the end of my scheme are very good, I just don't think they are important to my work. I also think BAE Systems is a good company to work for, and after my early careers scheme I expect my experience to improve.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
Research the company before doing an interview and link to as much first hand experience you have.If you are applying for a project management/logistics role, do some learning around engineering as the work is very technical.
