4/5 - Skills Development
2.6/5 - Structure and Support

Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Day starts with a few meetings to discuss the previous day's performance, looking through data to see if any problems or issues have arisen, who these issues fall under department wise and steps that can be taken in order to work towards resolving these issues and closing off the root cause problem solving
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
The program is very enjoyable with many different opportunities to meeting and work with different teams that range in different technologies. we are provided with various extra curricular activities that range from hosting career events and helping other schools with engineering project like building electric go karts and racing these at green goblin

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have learnt various skills, ranging from physical skills like using many different types of tooling from securing fixings to using sharp equipment to cut out shapes of material used for holding various items in storage such as shadow boards or towers that hold drill batteries so they are out of the way

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
1/5
The training side of the programme is not structured or organised very well. Access to work resources is always late, we had no computer logins for 2 months so we couldn't access resources or save/complete any work. we have no timetable so we don't know which rooms we are in for each lesson
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
We receive loads of support from our employer, any issues that are raised are dealt with in good time. follow up meetings are always put into calendars so we are aware of steps that have been take to resolve or are being taken to resolve the problem/ issue that occurred
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
1/5
We receive very little support from our training provider. Lessons have no structure and we are rushed through content due to time restrictions which were out of our control. submission feedback usually consists of 3-4 words, usually along the lines of ' all good/ no problems/nice work' however when it comes to the final submission we are informed about various pieces of content which are incorrect. then left with no time to resolve this and then grades will suffer
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
Content in the qualification helps a little with the job role, some parts don't help with certain roles and most of the content is self taught due to lack of input from the training provider. We receive support in content from the workplace to learn certain parts which we are then taught about and the connection is made.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
There are various networking events between apprentices and interns which allows for many groups from across the business to meet up and socialise in and out of work. There are many engineering projects where we assist the local schools in making go karts and showing and teaching them the processes of manufacturing as well as health and safety.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BMW Group UK to a friend?
Yes
Why?
You are treated as a member of staff rather than being a student, you have many opportunities to get involved with large scale projects and work with teams from all across the world. you are respected and given responsibilities that make you feel like a valued member of staff in the business
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BMW Group UK?
The advice I would give, would be to be yourself. The apprenticeships are about improving and learning so its best to show in what ways you are able to learn new skills and content. recruiting managers are looking for genuine people who are willing to learn and develop skills within the sector
