Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My work includes managing contracts and engaging with internal and external stakeholders to procure items for the projects I work on. This involves meetings throughout the day both in-person and online. I am responsible for my contracts and any other projects I pick up within my team.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I really enjoy my apprenticeship. I originally applied for a different apprenticeship but I got offered the one I am on now instead which I am enjoying a lot more than I think I would be if I got the apprenticeship I applied for.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Since starting my apprenticeship all of my behaviours and skills have improved. I am a lot more confident now compared to the start of my apprenticeship which has improved my communication and stakeholder management skills.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

My programme is well organised and I haven't had a problem with any of my placements, training workshops, or exams. The Early Careers team are always available for any questions I have and other apprentices are often able to answer questions as well.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive support whenever I have questions. Extra support is available and my Skill's Coach checks with me during my 12 week reviews to see if I need any of the extra support that they have available.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

My training provider (CIPS) provides a workshop and a revision session to go through content before an exam. They also assign us a Tutor who monitors our progress towards out apprenticeship KSB's and they can answer any questions we have on the exam content as well.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

My qualification is very relevant to my role in Procurement. I encounter things everyday that I have learnt during my studies. This helps a lot with exams as I can often apply the scenario's to activities I have done in my role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are activities to get involved in. We have many employee resource groups that people can join, as well as apprentice run groups. I am part of the Apprentice Council and we also have a group that focuses on mental health. We also have STRETCH projects that we can do.

Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I think BAE is a great place to work and through an apprenticeship you get a lot of opportunities.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
I didn't have any experience of my role before I got the apprenticeship so during my interview I focused on my behaviours and the strengths that I have developed throughout school. This way the interviewer could see that I am eager to learn and develop.
