Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
My role is largely based around recruitment, employee relations and people operations. I ensure that all training is delivered across all levels of the organisation and that skills gaps are being filled. I am involved in employee discipline including (but not limited to) Investigations, Disciplinaries, PRs, Wellbeing meetings. I help run meetings that relate to all people problems.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
2/5
I would, ideally, like to rate my enjoyment of my apprenticeship higher but due to a change in provider and then several changes in tutors with my new provider, there have been several communication issues. All of this has lead to the end of my apprenticeship feeling incredibly overwhelming, rushed and stressful. Had this been smoother I believe I would have enjoyed the programme in general. I cannot fault my current tutor as she has been engaged and has pushed me to ensure I will reach my end point assessment. She has been one of the highlights of Lifetime for me.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Yes, before coming into the role/apprenticeship I had no previous HR knowledge. Across the time I have been on my apprenticeship I have been able to build my theoretical and real world experience. I can now apply and interpret key data and understand how that reflects overall business results.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
To begin with it was very disorganised, my original tutor with my new provider was absent frequently and no reviews were completed, following on from this my second tutor left the business before I had the opportunity to meet them. This, along with being sent on an person day (when I am fully remote) led to the programme feeling disorganised. For a long period of time I was unsure what I was completing and how to progress. I found the new platform hard to adapt to as it was very different to my old provider and it was not clear who I then needed to contact for help.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
1/5
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
1/5

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend McDonald's to a friend?
Yes
Why?
There are many opportunities within McDonald's that suit a variety of people, the flexibility of shifts and working hours allows for a good work/life balance for entry level employees and the competitive pay and development opportunities encourage people to stay.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to McDonald's?
Be prepared for the work environment, the mindset coming into the business has changed in the time that I have worked for McDonald's. As int is many people's first jobs I think they feel it is easy or they can mess around, having a professional mindset when starting sets you on the right paths and means you are prepared for the challenges of a busy workplace. I am of the opinion that you "get back what you put in" if you do not take the job seriously this will reflect in your work but if you work hard you will be rewarded.
