Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I worked as an associate in the audit department for PwC so I was helping to completing testing across different areas for lots of clients. This included a lot of sample documentation, reconciling differences and communicating any issues to the client on behalf of my team.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I really enjoy working in the office in meeting so many new people. I was switched onto a new team every 3-4 weeks so I had the opportunity to learn and experience lots of different tasks. the office was super welcoming environment and I've made some great friends.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
My excel skills have improved massively, and I feel much more confident communicating in a professional manner to clients and colleagues. I have improved my accounting knowledge and am able to apply the things I have learnt in the office to my studdies at university.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
I enjoy being able to break up university and placement work. However it is difficult returning to university after 4 months off on placement and being faced with exams when I come back. It feels like I'm missing out on university life when I'm away, but it's nice to have the summer off though!
How much support do you receive from your employer?
2/5
The university is really supportive all year round and are able to help me with any issues i may have. PwC is really supportive whilst you are there, but difficult to contact whilst you are at university. I have also felt a lack of support with accommodation where we are forced into renting accomodation for 12 months when in 4th year we only need it for 8 weeks and we receive no support for shorter term accommodation contracts
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
We get emails from ICEAW with study tips. Lecturers at the university are super supportive though. They provide loads of resources and are always around inside and outside of lectures to offer extra help. Lectures are well planned and tailored to the exams
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
i am able to apply the accounting knowledge that i have learnt at university to real life scenarios on placement which allows me to grasp a better understanding of what we do
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
There are lots of socials and free dinners in the office. They hold quarterly meetings to feedback to senior managers and general things within the office. Individual teams will also have smaller socials to help them collaborate better and improve teamwork
