my role as an apprentice commercial manager is to learn the necessary skills to become an accomplished commercial manager. my role involves tracking & monitoring spend, illustrating how client funds are being used and to help ensure the project is being delivered on time in budget and of a certain quality. I regularly communicate with site managers as well as project managers to gain insight of site activities.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

i enjoy the working part of my programme very much, i prefer the work to the university studies.

i have learnt many new skills such us estimating, tendering, effective ways to present data, identifying my circle of influence and many other skills. i have also developed my communication skills

my programme is very well organise and structured, there are clear activities i must do/follow at work and clear meetings/deadlines i must meet for university.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

my employers offers ample support, all i need to do is ask for time to do university work or group assignment activities.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

i think the training provider is doing what they are supposed to however its not always relevant to work which can be frustrating sometimes. i think catch up meetings between the uni and my employer and myself are too long winded as well as very generic.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

i dont think the learning we do at the university is always relevant. the university learning is a good foundational knowledge of construction. there are definitely things that have clicked in my head from seeing it at university to seeing it in real life on site.
