Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Working on the design and integration of various combat systems on BAE's naval ships. These can range from simple to complex systems, such as radar/sonar, gunnery systems, guided weapon systems etc.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I really enjoy being able to work on this cutting edge technology. There is a sense of pride all around the shipyard.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learned skills like problem solving, communication, surveying, data management.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

There could be a better structure in the workplace, as we seem to get moved around to different teams and this can be of late notice.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

The company provides a lot of good benefits, with good employee incentives such as the shares scheme and a good pension.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I am provided 1 day a week to prioritise my studies. Also if I have an exam coming up I usually can take and extra day for studying.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I dont think the course work is very relevant to my role. Although it has transferable skills to different types of engineering.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There arent much that I have seen. There is a few groups of guys who get together for a game of 5's.

Why?
The benefits while being an apprentice are better than most other places in the country. The pay is very high for an apprentice. The work is really interesting.

Do your research on the company and their ongoing projects.
